Case study · Cloud biofeedback & EEG data platform

A cloud EEG platform that gets biofeedback hardware live in days, not quarters.

Mindstreams is a cloud biofeedback and neuroscience platform for real-time streaming, secure storage, and customisable analytics of physiological signals. DSM designed and built the platform, the SDK, and the API behind it — the infrastructure layer hardware teams would otherwise have to build themselves before they can even start on their own product.

Mindstreams — a cloud EEG analysis and biofeedback data platform built by DSM

The problem

Every biofeedback team was rebuilding the same data plumbing.

Teams building neurofeedback and biofeedback products — research groups, wellness apps, clinical tools — kept hitting the same wall before they could ship anything: real-time signal streaming, secure structured storage, access control, and analytics all had to exist first. Months of infrastructure work stood between a working EEG or ECG sensor and an actual product, and most of those teams didn't want to be in the data platform business at all.

What DSM built

A streaming, storage, and analytics layer teams plug straight into.

DSM designed and built Mindstreams as a hosted, privacy-first cloud platform: a real-time streaming broker, structured session storage, a lightweight SDK and API, and an analytics dashboard, so a hardware team can go from a raw sensor feed to live EEG visualisation without standing up any infrastructure of their own.

Most first integrations go live in under a week, following a simple scope → connect → validate → live rollout — the platform's own promise is "live in days, not quarters," and the engineering is built to hold to it.

The technical detail

Built for real-time signals, structured storage, and fast integration.

Real-time signal streaming

A WebSocket broker delivers live EEG band-power and waveform data over per-session topics, so a dashboard or downstream app sees a reading the moment a device captures it.

Multi-signal, multi-device

EEG, EMG, ECG, GSR, pulse, respiration, skin temperature, and custom sensors all flow through one pipeline — unlimited device types instead of a separate integration per signal.

Lightweight SDK & API

A few lines of code bring a device online. Webhooks and export endpoints let a team's existing app consume Mindstreams data without hosting any streaming infrastructure of its own.

Secure, structured storage

Every session is timestamped, structured, and stored with encryption, access control, and audit logging designed in from day one — not bolted on for compliance later.

Built-in analytics dashboard

Live band charts, average spectrum views, and 3D waterfall spectrograms ship out of the box, so a team gets visualisation and session review for free, before writing a line of their own front end.

Flexible, usage-based pricing

A free evaluation tier, pay-as-you-go, and monthly plans scale up to enterprise licensing for teams embedding the platform into a shipped product at volume.

The outcome

A live cloud platform, freeing hardware teams from building their own.

Mindstreams is live today as the streaming, storage, and analytics layer behind EEG and biofeedback products that would otherwise have spent months on infrastructure before writing a single feature. Teams evaluate for free, connect in days, and scale from pay-as-you-go through to enterprise licensing without changing platforms.

Why this matters

The infrastructure layer, not just another app.

Mindstreams shows a different side of what DSM does: not a single device or a single app, but the cloud data platform underneath a whole category of EEG and biofeedback products — streaming, storage, security, and analytics, built once so other teams don't have to. If you're building on physiological signal data and don't want to become a data infrastructure company to do it, this is the kind of platform DSM builds.
